Help with Wii

Turn on?
My Wii has been acting up. Almost every time I turn it on, it suddenly blacks out and says the "An error has occurred" message. This usually happens after 15 seconds or so. If I start a game, it will "start" the disc, but will start up the Wii menu before the game launches, then crashes with the same message.

Any suggestions?

I don't know.... But the first thing that came to mind when I read this was that your wii was bricked, but I highly doubt that's the problem. Try completely unplugging the wii for maybe an hour, and then replug it.

Ya, leaving it alone for some time will sometimes get it to work. Maybe it's overheat? The system is hot even when I get to play a game though.

Maybe. Where you trying the same game? Maybe the disk is causing the problem...

It happens with all games(even when there is no disc), but seems to happen more frequently with games such as Skyward Sword, Brawl, and Mario Kart. I believe they all have "fat" bi-layered discs.

It causes a problem with certain recent wii games. Apparently, using Nintendo's Lens Cleaner should fix it. Read the thread for more info. A friend of mine IRL has the same problem. That should help him too.

Would I be able to buy this disc cleaner at a game/electronic store?(GameStop, Best Buy, etc.)

probably, as I only searched this. I don't know how that works or anything. However, I have a problem of mine: whenever I try playing brawl, loading the game, it works just fine. When I start a brawl it works just as fine. However, when I'm about to select the stage, the wii makes an znnoying buzzing noise and freezes. Anyone knows anytihng about this?

Corrupt data for that particular program (stage select), or a specific part of your disc is dirty/scratched? That's my guess.

You could clean it a towel and water, use the disc cleaner, or take it to a game store to replace it(usually cheap/free).
